Mentorship Circles
Small peer groups guided by a trained mentor over a 6-month cycle, focused on goal-setting, confidence and life skills.
BREKIC Foundation walks alongside young people in Kampala’s communities with mentorship, skills training and health advocacy — so ambition has somewhere to go.
BREKIC Foundation (short for the Brenda Kiconco Initiative) is a Uganda-based nonprofit working with adolescents and young adults in underserved communities around Kampala. We believe every young person deserves a mentor, a marketable skill and a seat at the table — and we build programmes around exactly that.
To equip young Ugandans with mentorship, practical skills and a voice in the decisions that shape their futures — starting in Kampala and growing outward.
Small, consistent groups over one-off events. We pair every participant with a mentor, track their goals across a full programme cycle, and involve local partners rather than working around them.
Each programme area is designed to be entered on its own or combined — a mentee today can become a mentor, trainer or youth advocate tomorrow.

Short bootcamps in digital literacy, tailoring and agribusiness, built for young people entering the job market.
Community dialogues and awareness drives on health and civic participation, run with local leaders and clinics.
Football and netball leagues that build teamwork and discipline, and scout talent for further support.
“Every young person we meet already has ambition. Our job is to make sure they don’t have to carry it alone.”
Brenda Kiconco founded BREKIC Foundation to close the gap between ambition and opportunity for young people in Kampala’s underserved communities. She works at the intersection of mentorship, skills-building and policy advocacy, and has represented youth-focused community work in local and international forums — including at the United Nations and in meetings with Uganda’s and Kenya’s heads of state.
Under her leadership, BREKIC has grown from informal mentoring circles into a structured foundation spanning four programme areas across greater Kampala.
